Maggie’s Biography
Maggie Aslet was born in Guildford, Surrey, 1987. She has been drawing and painting for 15 years, and won her first award in 2000. She studied art with Graeme Poupart and Ian Newman at Epsom College, Surrey.
Maggie has spent much time travelling. Her first experience of watching wildlife was searching for Tigers in Ranthambore, India. She has also travelled round various National Parks in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda including the Serengeti, Maasai Mara, Ngorngoo Crater, and Queen Elizabeth’s National Park. She often camped in the park overnight, giving her a true feel for the atmosphere the wildlife live in.
During her travels, Maggie has spent time volunteering in Kenya and Tanzania. She worked in a hospital, taught English and Science, and helped to build an extension to a health centre. Her return saw a turning point in her art as she incorporated her experiences into her painting.
In April 2008 Maggie published three limited edition prints of her work, which can be viewed in Art Circles Gallery, York, as well as on her website and in her studio.
