Information from the artist:
This kind gentleman is a chimp who lives on Ngamba Island in Uganda. As the colouring of a chimp is mainly black, i decided to use this as a chance to experiment, and intensify the colours. I hope this has created more expression in the piece. The purple around the eyes gives a warm glow to the chimp. The yellow highlights around the mouth and right eye direct the viewers gaze around the mouth and up towards the right hand side of the picture.
