Information from the artist:
Whilst I was painting this lion, I very much wanted to
portray the power and overwhelming presence this beast possessed. When I saw him
in the Serengeti (Tanzania), I felt he had absolutely no fear of us as we watched
him rolling in the grass. Occasionally he would roll over and fix us with a glare
as if to dare us to come any closer. I hope in painting this, I have been able to
create this feeling of confidence that nothing threatened this beast.
