I aimed for this painting to have true presence, just like the tigers I saw in India. I created this by using a complimentary colour in the background compared to the orange and reds of the fur in the background. This also linked with the eyes, to create a sense of unity in the piece. I kept the background plain so that it would not distract from the Tiger in any way. I also created a feeling of movement in the fur of the body that sweeps up towards the face, channelling the viewer’s eyes on the mouth and eye area. I felt that this piece is thought provoking, this beautiful beast is being pursued into oblivion, hence the name 'Hunted'.
